My family and I have been going to Deer Trail resort for many years. The cabins are quant, no frills, no television, no AC and we couldn't like them more! The reason is that we get to spend a lot of time doing things outside together as a family and it's wonderful! The owner Alice and her staff are very nice people, and the resort grounds are always clean! The fishing on Long Lakes not half bad either! We will happily continue to spend out 4th of July Holidays with Alice and the folks at Deer Trail!
I am at Deer Trail Resort right now. It is a beautiful blue sky day and the breeze is just right. I can hear activities on the lake and a laugh of a child. The sun sparkles across the blue waters of Long Lake. The two fish cleaning stations are frequently used. The nine cabins are full. We rent a seasonal spot in the campground which offers us the opportunity to access this spot often from Spring to Fall. We have been coming here for many years and so we are definitely bias about it. We have looked around a few times and can find no better spot for us. Another great aspect of this place is that it is close to Longville (within a mile) so it is an easy walk if you are so inclined. Longville has a wide range of services and great shopping including the wonderful Gallery of New Creations (arts and antiques) This lake is one of the cleanest and clearest in this area of Minnesota. The water is inviting. My daily swims along shore give me a sense of freedom and well-being. The swim raft is fun for our grandchildren. There is plenty of dock space and boats for those who need them. I can't think of a better way to spend a vacation than at Deer Trail Resort with Alice Moe and the others who help keep this place the real Minnesota Lake resort experience.
The stories she told of how her husband and her built Deer Trail Resort. ❤ feeling sad.
We've had our trailer there for years, even up graded our trailer after many funtastic years here. Reasonable, and great fishing, designing and entertainment. Hardest art is the the road construction and time it takes to get out of the cities, to get there!! More fun with kids, but we find things to do,and places to go.
I have to admit, I love Deer Trail Resort! It's not for the faint of heart. There's nothing fancy or luxurious about it. In fact, it's in serious need of modernizing. The beds could be more comfortable and the cabins are definitely rustic. The docks are in disrepair and the advertised boats are lacking. It is a family run resort where the family has aged and dispersed. But, I love it because it is like my second home. Or maybe, even closer to my home. The lake is clean and clear and so refreshing. I have enjoyed the beautiful lake since I can remember. Alice, the owner, has always seemed like family. Rebecca, her caretaker and now resort manager, has done a decent job taking over duties and managing a declining resort. To be honest, I would be sad if it changed to much. Although, I would love a more comfy bed to sleep on. Hint, hint.
Been staying here for many years! Sadly this trip, we were given the news of Alice and her care giver, a fire took their life, about two weeks ago. Sorry for her family's loss, and all who knew her. She was an amazing lady
